Absurdist drama The Tall Building explores the human condition – The Calgary Herald

True to its moniker, Handsome Alice Theatre’s production of Jill Connell’s absurdist drama The Tall Building is handsome. From design and direction to performance, a great deal of talent has been lavished on Connell’s play. The play is set on the 100th floor of a skyscraper in a not-too-distant apocalyptic city that is on fire.

No one seems to be battling the numerous blazes, coyotes have taken over many of the streets even wandering into the building’s 7-Eleven and the mayor is rumoured to be hiding out in a bunker below city hall. The only thing that seems to be functioning is the building itself which keeps growing floors.
